Deliverance Cove

Looking north along Castlepoint Beach

Saturday 20 June

Main event today was our walk along the Deliverance Cove walkway, which goes from the carpark above the cray boats through some pines and along a ridge above the lagoon to the bottom of Castle Rock. From there, you can walk on up the steep bit to the top of the Rock or go down a steep bit to Deliverance Cove. We chose neither, opting instead to go back the way we came. We were tempted to go down and walk home along the beach but in the end I decided the track down would be a bit hard on the knees.

The rain has so far kept away and it’s not been too cold outside. In fact as I write this, (late afternoon, coming up dusk), there’s patches of blue sky and red-tinged clouds. Mind you, if I look in the opposite direction, there’s some ominous looking clouds coming down. We are positioned so the rear window of the camper looks over the curve of Castlepoint Beach towards the lighthouse. The tinted glass makes it look colder outside than it is.

Speaking of glass, we’d assumed the camper would be double-glazed, but no such luck, so a bit of condensation on the windows this morning. The interior is easy to heat up, though, and we weren’t cold last night. We’re staying here again tonight, and possibly tomorrow night as well. There’s something nice about not getting up and moving on each morning. The downside is that once parked up and settled in, you don’t want to up sticks for a day trip somewhere. Hm, maybe a car and caravan next time?
