We left the lovely Castlepoint this morning. The day started with the promise of sunshine and to begin with the view to the lighthouse was clear. But by late morning, when we headed out, the lighthouse was shrouded in mist.
Easy run through to Masterton and, after a quick stop for a bite to each, on to Greytown, where we’re parked for the night. By the time we arrived, the sun was out again. The camping ground here is a lovely space surrounded by native trees. We’ve camped here before and enjoyed it. We also, back in the day, lived in Greytown, and specifically in the old cottage that has now been relocated and become part of the museum complex here.
Quiet afternoon. We walked into town for a wander around and to top up with a few groceries. I also found a little shop called the Lolly Jar. Couldn’t resist buying some aniseed wheels. Yum. By the time we got back to the campervan, it was late afternoon and the sun had gone. Still, I think we’ve done marginally better than Wellington in the sunshine stakes. We’ve just heard on the news that the city has had six minutes of sun over the past six days.
