No, actually, I’m not referring to the person above. Rather, this blog is a work in progress as I try out different themes. If you are a visitor to this site and you notice tryouts of different themes, I’d love to get your feedback. The current theme is called Cubic, one of the free themes from wordpress.com. I rather like the photo set up for the front page but not so keen on the menu sitting out to the side (accessed by the three lines at the top of the blog). Also finding it tricky to decide a colour combo, so expect that to change. Of course, by the time you read this, I may be trying out a different theme, most likely Nucleare which is the other one I’m currently considering. And a switch of theme will mean a completely different look to the front page photo gallery of Cubic. (Update: The current theme, as at Aug 26, 2021, is Gateway, which Iike — except for the centred text on the static home page).
A word about this blog. I’ve been wanting to get a blog other than L’s Redbeak Diaries to use for any future travel we may do and, maybe, one to which I can transfer all our past travel blogs. I wanted a site that would be free of wordpress ads and the only way to get that is to pay for a site. I had a choice of using an existing site (in the past I’ve set up a new blog for each trip) or starting a new one. In the end I used an existing but unused one called Off Highway One. This domain had been intended for our South Island road trip back in 2016. But I somehow got things wrong and ended up with a different URL. Confused? I was too. But it has meant I’ve been able to use the OHO domain name for this catch-all site. The plan is to do a bit of updating and linking to earlier blogs, to end up with a blog that gives some coherence to the various records of our travels over the years. And, of course, to provide a site for future travels, Covid permitting, as well as all other random meanderings and ponderings.
