You win some, lose some. I’ve arranged a week-by-week membership at a local gym and this afternoon managed to get there and do my programme. I take that as a small win because navigating all those machines and the buffed and huffing using them is daunting. But I found a corner with sufficiently light weights and added my bit of sweat to the mix. So a plus there.
Not so good was an unexpected encounter for L with the resident dog. As he {that’s L), was making his way quietly out the door for a breakfast shopping run (ingredients for our toasted muesli) the said dog decided L was an intruder and nipped his leg before you could say Jack Robinson.
With my own experience a few years back of an infected wound from a dog bite (different dog), I knew medical attention was a non-negotiable. So off to the emergency and after-hours clinic for a tetanus injection and antibiotics (for L, not the dog). It was a long wait amid wailing children and coughing adults, but we were suitably masked. And grateful that we, as visitors to this city, were able to get timely treatment.
And a final win, a barista who understands the need for just the right amount of hot water. Less is better.
